CARRIAGE & HORSE RIDING
Introduced in September 2008, the Black Locust Farm and Riding Stables is offering horse riding and carriage rides to the guests of the Great Tree Inn.
One of the most picturesque, elegant, and romantic ways to visit Chautauqua is riding in a horse-drawn carriage either enjoying a soft summer breeze or all bundled up beneath the snug seat blankets to keep out the late autumn or winter chill. Take yourself back in time to the simple pleasure of a classic open carriage drawn by a pair of high-stepping Percherons.

Their magnificent horses will take you . . . "over the hills and through the woods" where you can sit back and unwind, while enjoying nature at it's best! Maybe if you're lucky, you'll see a family of deer who have settled into their woods. Maybe even their foxes.

Never ridden a horse? Used to ride years ago? Horse riding is a great pastime and a great way to make friends. As guests at the Great Tree Inn, you can enjoy horses and learn new skills and the opportunity to experience the fun of horse-back riding. Learn about horses and develop some riding skills at the same time. And as part of your riding experience, take a scenic ride
through their woods and fields with your guide who will continue coaching you in a real time environment.
The Black Locust Barn and Stables is home not only to horses but also to a menagerie including goats and the resident Jack Russells. Visit with the horses and the goats and meet the new babies!
